Almost 2 weeks ago, I did the Susan G Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure (for breast cancer) and basically walked 60 miles in 3 days. It was a blast!! I laughed, learned and bonded with so many other people whose lives have been impacted with such a horrible disease.
I’m going to be honest with you and tell you that I did NOT do something that I tell YOU to do all time…LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!
At the end of Day 1, I was having pain behind my right knee. I self-medicated and ignored it. Over the next 2 days, I took lots of Advil and used sports tape/knee brace to help support it. As a result of pushing, almost 2 weeks later, I am still in pain. Turns out it is a calf thing vs a knee thing. My attempt at TurboFire earlier this week was rather funny. I did a modified version of the modified version. So…I’m having to resort to a recumbent bike for my cardio. My training for my first half-marathon next month is in jeopardy. You see the picture, right?
Now I’m not telling you that you can use this as an excuse to get out of doing your workout but my point…LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! If you need an additional rest day take it. And if not, than great!
