Have you ever been totally frustrated with your kid, but at the same time, not want to stifle his creativity? THAT’S where I sit at this very moment.
We just got home from his homeschool PE class, and he decided that he wants to “experiment” in the kitchen based on a show he saw last night. And…off he goes.
He wanted to shred carrots at first…with the potato peeler. He proceeded to cut them with a butter knife and shred them in a nut grinder. He has now mixed, in a bowl, milk, chocolate syrup, brown sugar, salt, crushed goldfish, an egg, ground carrots, and sugar…AND has informed me that he wants ME to bake it in the oven.
I asked for how long. He said an hour. I said it doesn’t need to bake for an hour. He said fine then 15 min.
I asked him what he’s making. He said stuffin muffins. I said but you need flour for muffins. He said oh right…thanks for the reminder. Oy!!!!! NOW he’s adding flour.
As the adult, I see the mess that “I” have to clean up. Yea, he says he will, but come on…all of us parents know that it will be me.
I would like to be the first to say…I will NOT be the taste-tester.
And…I can count this as school, yes? 😉
