Not Losing Weight? Now What?
by Rochelle Griffin
Feel like you’re losing weight at the pace of a turtle? Or perhaps your scale is moving at the speed of a snail?
Trying to lose weight can be frustrating. You work at it, yet if feels like there is little results. In truth, with weight loss, you must be patient. I know that the TV boasts of different “quick” plans, but it’s setting you up. Many people don’t realize that those testimonials are NOT the norm & are often done under strict watch so amazing stories can be compiled and told. Just keeping it real.
When you are losing weight on your own, be patient. Honestly there’s no other choice.
Take it a day at a time…eat well, work out, drink enough water, get enough sleep, & control your stress. Stay off the scale…weighing weekly at the most. You have to trust the process.
But what happens if you truly are doing all of these things and are still struggling?
The very first thing to do is to get very honest with yourself. Look at your day to day activities. ARE you eating healthy foods within a good daily calorie amount? ARE you working out 5-6 days per week utilizing strength training & cardio? ARE you drinking 8-9 glasses of water per day? ARE you sleeping 7-8 hours per night? ARE you taking time to relax every single day?
If you aren’t doing one of those components, that is the very first thing that you need to tackle.
Once you can say YES, I’m doing everything I know to do to lose weight in a healthy way, then it’s time to look at other culprits including adrenal fatigue, unstable blood sugar, leaky gut, food sensitivities, & hormone imbalance. Any and all of these can cause your body to resist weight loss.
In fact these culprits can CAUSE weight gain even if you’re working out and eating right. I know it sounds crazy but I’ve lived it!
In short, weight loss doesn’t happen overnight. You must do it in a healthy manner and be patient with the process. When you know that you’re doing everything you can, it’s time to reach out and ask for help. Moving at a turtle or snail’s pace is fine, as long as you’re making progress and moving forward.
