A Labor of Love
by Rochelle Griffin
Labor Day has several different meanings to people: a holiday celebrating American workers, the beginning of the football season, the end of summer, the beginning of school. Regardless of what it means to you, Labor Day is often seen as a definitive date for stopping or starting something. Do you see it as an opportunity to usher in the fall season with some change? Is Labor Day going to be a turning point for you? Whether you need to lose weight, get into shape, or change your financial situation, this Labor Day can be THE date that you’ll always remember marked a new beginning for you.
I don’t know your situation, but I do know this…it’s never going to change if you don’t do something about it. You can talk about the change that you want until you’re blue in the face, but if you don’t back it with action, nothing will ever be different.
If it’s your health, fitness, or weight that needs a makeover, TODAY is the perfect day to take control. Holidays are right around the corner. The average American gains 10 lbs. over the holiday season. Do you consider yourself average? I don’t think of you that way. It’s my hope that you don’t think of yourself as average either.
I made a comment the other day on my Facebook Page that I was craving pizza and someone commented back that it was her all-time favorite post of mine! She felt the post showed that I was running the same race she was. People, I’m so running the same race as you. I have the same exact struggles that everyone else has. I deal with cravings, fat days, exhaustion, crying children, and dogs that poop on the rug! We can partner and make changes together.
On the other hand, if your financial situation is what keeps you up at night, the best advice that I can give you is to follow your heart and be true to yourself. Because I’ve been on the brink of financial disaster, I understand the stress that comes along with it. We had over $50,000 of credit card debt, plus 2 mortgages. I promise that there is hope.
I truly believe that I’ve been through my trials for a reason. Because I’ve run the gauntlet of emotional eating, weight gain, health issues, and financial ruin, I have a labor of love to help others navigate through the same pitfalls. I can tell you this…the longer it takes you to take that step into the unknown, the longer it will take you to turn your life around.
Are you willing to take a step? Is today the day that you are willing to take a risk and make a positive change in your life?
I want you to leave me a comment or contact me. I want you to tell me whether you are struggling with your health, finances, or both. We can put a plan in place so this time next year, your Labor Day will represent something completely different.
