Juggling or Multi-Tasking: 3 Tips to Time Management
by Rochelle Griffin
I don’t know about you, but this week has been incredibly challenging for me in the time management area. Between homeschooling, my school, our son’s health, my health, recording videos & audios, and a slew of other business things…oh and keeping my house running, I felt like I was juggling a dozen different balls…with just one waiting to come crashing down.
Amazing thing…
NONE did come crashing down.
Can you guess why not?
Because I already had systems in place in prevent a major incident. Do you? If you answered no, it’s not too late. In fact NOW is the time to put a system in place. Once you do, you’ll be thrilled that you did.
I’m going to share with you 3 Tips that I do every single day. These 3 things alone have brought a sense of calm to a crazy household.
Tip #1 Keep a calendar
I’m talking about an actual calendar that you write in. Technology is great and yes, I do use a calendar on my iPhone so I always know what’s going on, but there is something about putting pen to paper. It activates a part of our brain that just typing on a keypad doesn’t.
I write in my calendar everything that I need for the day…so yes it doubles as my to-do list as well. Keeping the clutter out of my head helps me stay sane.
Tip #2 Write out schedules
This has been HUGE in our family and has taken a load off of me! I have several different schedules written out. For example, my son has a homeschool schedule. He can look it at any time and see what’s expected of him that day. I even put his appointments on it so he’s aware.
Another schedule we keep is for my son’s supplements. We are in the midst of still healing him from “leaky gut” syndrome, so he takes multiple pills per day. In the past, everyone relied on me to dole it out…after all I’m the mom and a RN.
Then I got smart.
I made a schedule of what’s due when. Now my husband can take a look at it and give our son what’s needed without interrupting me if I’m busy doing work. Brilliant if I say so myself!
Tip #3 Review your calendar daily with spouse and kids
Every single evening, I pull out the calendar and give everyone a quick rundown of what the next day looks like. This helps the family gear up for what will be needed and expected from them the following day.
Again this takes a lot of pressure off of me as the family will know how to best support one another…ie who’s gonna be super busy that day and need some help.
My business has more than tripled in profit this year and has expanded faster than I ever imagined. I can honestly tell you that if I didn’t have these systems in place…if I tried to do everything myself (totally guilty of that in the past), one or more of those spinning plates would not only crash to the ground but probably create shrapnel as well.
If you are feeling frazzled in the slightest, give these tips a try. They are super easy to implement (you can do it in one day) but can truly bring a sense of order back to your home and calm to your life.

I like the idea of sharing the calendar . As a mom with a chronic illness that has multiple doctor appointments and 3 active kids from 11 to 15 at home maybe getting them involved in the calendar might help
It has made a serious difference in our home!:)
Thank You, You are helping me in many ways
Great Time Management Tips Rochelle! I like the fact you share the Calendar with everyone the night before so everyone knows what’s ahead.
I’m now Homeschooling 3 of our 6 children and every Tip is like gold.
P.S “How’s your son?”
