How to Deal with Food Cravings

At some point or another, we’ve all dealt with the dreaded food cravings. The idea pops into our head, even if we know it’s not a good one, and from that point on…it’s GAME ON as we try to fight it.

Food cravings aren’t fun. They can drive us crazy…and drive us to the fridge late at night even though we have vowed it wouldn’t happen. Psst…I speak from experience.

So why do we get cravings? It can be for many reasons, including:

  • Lack of certain nutrients
  • Pathogens like parasites, bacteria or yeast
  • Food sensitivities
  • Unstable blood sugar
  • Hormone Imbalance

While ultimately it’s imperative to get to the root cause, I’m going to give you a million dollar tip to deal with food cravings. Let me say two things first: 1) if you are under a physician’s care or on any medication, please check with your doctor before starting any supplements. Be wise. 2) If you don’t get to the root cause, the cravings won’t go away. They will most definitely reoccur until you get rid of the offending source.

Ok, with that said, this is what I tell my clients about and it’s something that I do as well.

When dealing with cravings, the natural supplements 5-HTP and L-Tyrosine can really help. Take 100 mg of 5-HTP, along with 1000mg of L-Tyrosine three times per day. 5-HTP helps to boost the serotonin in our brain, and L-Tyrosine helps boost the dopamine in our brain. As an added benefit, they can help with your sleep as well. ***It’s imperative that you take BOTH supplements, not just one. They balance each other out.

Remember, if you find that the supplements aren’t working, there’s a high probability that you’ve not dealt with the root cause of the cravings. The only definitive way to get to the root cause is with testing. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Test, Don’t Guess.

Once you get to the root cause, you CAN kiss those cravings Goodbye!

    Where can you find the supplements and what kind of dr will do that testing, as well as the adrenal fatigue and hormone balance?

      The ones I listed you can find at a health food or vitamin store. As far as testing, this is something that I do if you are in the US or Canada. 🙂
